The most common fix for this issue is making sure your Windows Operating system is up to date. This is leaving me pretty stuck now, I can''t see if the wrapper has worked if I can''t log in to Steam in the first place and I''ll need to figure this out pretty fast because if it doesn''t work I''m going to want to try and get Steam to refund me which I assume is time sensitive. Our team is aware of some users reporting that on a PC the game will become stuck or crash on a black screen shortly after launching. I don''t know if perhaps that issue is what''s causing the authentication failure. I clicked the ''I can''t log in'' button on the windows Steam login prompt and it attempted to open a steam browser window presumably with help information however it failed to load the contents of the page it wanted to load citing an SSL certificate issue. I''m quite sure they''re not as I have tried both my username in Steam and my email and I''m quite sure the password is not wrong as I set it only minutes ago and used it to log in to two separate sessions immediately thereafter. Unfortunately though, every time I try to log in, it claims my user name and password are wrong. I reset the password, succesfully and logged in in the browser, and also the Steam app (Mac OS version) noticed the change in user credentials and prompted me to re-authenticate, which I did (successfully).īy this stage I''d already finished download the Porting Kit wrapper for the game so I though I may as well simply run the wrapper, initiate the windows version of Steam, log in there and begin the download that way since it would probably work best anyway. It was then I realised that I no longer remembered my password for Steam. Obviously I knew that, hence the Porting Kit, but I didn''t know they''d point blank refuse to allow me to download the game even if they are indeed right it shouldn''t work on Mac OS.īut I heard you could actually initiate the downloads if done in a web browser outside of Steam and began attempting that. Unfortunately, I didn''t realise that Steam would refuse to actually initiate the download of the game on my system because it''s a mac and the game doesn''t support Mac. So I bought Fallout 3, after seeing that there was a wrapper for it in the porting kit server.
